TJ Schier is the CEO and Founder of SmashSwing Immersive Golf as well as a decades long speaker and consultant in the franchising, hospitality and competitive socializing space. He lives and breaths operations, franchising and training…and speaks on how to build and grow high performing teams.
TJ spent two decades developing operational training materials from ‘flash cards to flash animation’ for Coca-Cola, Kraft, Evian, as well as dozens of leading restaurant and hotel chains, including Pal’s Sudden Service, the first restaurant chain ever to win the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
During those two decades consulting and speaking, TJ founded and ran SMART Restaurant Group, a large multi-unit franchisee of Which Wich Superior Sandwiches with a track record of high sales, employee retention, and guest service scores – he preaches what he practiced! SMART Restaurant Group won a QSR Magazine Applied Technology Award, was the Which Wich Franchisee of the Year as well as being a finalist for the National Restaurant Association’s Operator Innovations Award.
Prior to founding SMART he was the VP of Field Support for Chuck E Cheese’s Pizza.
He has written numerous books including a series of restaurant specific books under the ‘S.M.A.R.T. Restaurant Guide’ series (operations, recruiting, catering) and ‘Send Flowers to the Living! Rewards, Contests, and Incentives to Build Employee Loyalty”. He has authored over 100 articles on guest service and motivating today’s generation. He is a past contributing editor for QSR Magazine, past president of the Council of Hotel & Restaurant Trainers (CHART) and former long-time member of the NRA Ed Foundation HR Advisory Council.
He has a BBA and MBA from the University of Texas, speaks dozens of times per year at manager and franchise conferences and resides in Dallas/Ft Worth with his family.
